In Federalist No.10 Madison said "No man is allowed to be a judge in his own cause, because his interest would certainly bias his judgment, and, not improbably, corrupt his integrity." Accordingly, anyone who directly benefits from any Democratic big gov't quasi-socialist program should not be allowed to vote. They would, after all, not be voting for the common good but rather for their own good. Moreover, such a system corrupts Democratic politicians too by encouraging them to offer more and expanded programs to win votes rather than out of a belief in the common weal.
In fact, one can assume from all our founding fathers said about voting that had they anticipated socialism and its the corrupting influence on voters and politicians they would have made the rise of The Democratic Party illegal with a Constitutional amendment limiting the absolute size of the Federal gov't, except in time of war, and/or with a method to limit suffrage such that Democrats could not directly buy votes with new and/or expanded Federal programs.
It is truly testimony to the inspirational message of the Republican Party that they have survived so well while merely promising the freedom from gov't, to sink or swim, that was the major lesson of world history which our founding fathers thought they had incorporated so well into our Constitution. comments: bje1000@aol.com
