Virginia Tech & Cho Seung-Hui's Liberal Plays

It seems odd that when Cho Seung-Hui's professor read his plays she though he was disturbed just because of a little sex and violence? Hadn't this literature professor ever seen a liberal play before? Hadn't she heard of Quinton Tarantino's chic, edgee, liberal films? Hadn't she ever gone to a movie? Hadn't she ever lived in America?

This writer recently went to a play at a very public mainstream theater that started with a woman taking off all her clothes, and the stage being covered with plastic. The plastic was there so the fake blood of 30 husbands, who were about to be murdered by their wives during honeymoon sex, would not mess up the theater. The play was so wonderfully modern, liberal, progressive, and complex. It turned out that the marriages in question were arranged marriages to which the brides secretly objected, and so to express their objections they knifed their husbands in the back several times rather than let them finish their first ill gotten marital orgasms. Yes yes it was a lot of murder, sex, blood, and violence but heck it was for a worthy liberal feminist cause. And ya know, let's never mind that American kids see American culture too, and that sexual crimes and crimes in general are up about 5 times from what they were in the Republican 1950's. And let's not mind that we were attacked on 9/11, in part, because of the way our crude violent cultural subverts more conservative cultures all around the world .

Oh, and if you smugly take comfort dismissing the Muslims as nut cases then you ought to wonder why the Europeans express many of the same concerns, albeit less violently, about our wonderful liberal culture. And then there are the Indian Hindu's who today are burning Richard Gere in effigy in protest over his liberal embrace of their Bollywood Star. Ah, but there are a few billion Chinese and Japanese, but damn, they too are also
