EUROPEAN PUBERTY

Here are some simple facts: yesterday, the U.S. saved Europe from centuries of mindless, bloodthirsty slaughter during which literally millions and millions of human beings were butchered. In WW1, WW11, and the cold war, we saved them from such wonderful men as Kaiser Wilhelm II, Hitler, and Stalin, and then gave them sustainable, peaceful, gov'ts and cultures. A mere 50 years ago they were so busy playing in the sand box that they failed to notice the growing Nazis swarm all around them. France was defeated in 4 days, sympathized with the Nazis, never had a thing to do with their own liberation, to this day reenacts the liberation as if they were responsible for it, was never thankful in any meaningful way, still has a significant anti-semitism problem, and has always been Napoleonically obtructive while pretending to be internationally savvy, morally authoritative, and an active participant on the world stage, despite their continued dependence on our tutelage and protection.

But now that Mom and Dad are busy in Iraq and somewhat cowed by their obstreperous teen Europeans; it is time to trust the eager little beavers with the keys, the keys to Iran no less. They have prepared so hard and seem so pleased with themselves. How can you resist the "I can do it, I can do it " chants from the little ones who claim to have a diplomatic process through which they are going to prevent half crazed Muslim fanatics, oddly installed by our own Jimmy Carter, from developing Nuclear Jihad Bombs with which to destroy the civilized world. And, most importantly, they are going to do it without the nasty violence for which their parents are so famous; never mind it is the same violence used to save their hides so many times.

They are so sure they can do it all by themselves. You just have to be proud of the effort, but all the while taking comfort knowing that, if they fail, they can come back home, as usual, to let Mom and Dad drive them a little longer until they fully mature. Still let's all pray our teens grow up quickly without having a bad accident in Iran because someday they really will be needed to help run the family business. Iran will be an excellent test.
