ABORTION FOR DUMMIES

Dear Ms. Jones,
Thank you for the article. Abortion must be a very tough issue for you given that you are a very beautiful, striking, wonderful, and traditional Catholic from a tiny little conservative town in upstate, NY, but working amongst the secular liberal elite in the most liberal area of the most liberal city on earth? Please let me explain :-)

The liberals may dodge the issue or frame it as a matter of choice or women's health, as if conservatives don't care to make choices or care about their own health, but really it is about abortion, or more to the point, Britney Spears. The Church, being very traditional, conservative and 2000 years old, with all the wisdom that implies, thinks sex should be a sacred act between two married people who are in love and who, ideally, are in a position to have and love children. The liberal secular elite (all Democrats) prefers the Britney Spears version of civilization where love, family, and children are separated from sex so it can instead become a part of the commercial business world where it is used to sell all manner of merchandise and to liberate us from the traditional religious and romantic interests on which a loving family was based during the long rise of Western Civilization.

In such an environment abortion becomes a necessary form of birth control to fully enable everyone to have carefree sex anytime they want with whomever they want. Removing family, love, and children from sex is an unnatural act of social engineering that undermines the very basis on which our civilization grew.

Liberals have all but succeeded in killing off religious values in the private sector where they once dominated; so now they are in the hands of Republicans who are the last best hope that some semblance of religious idealism can survive through our government. To put it simply we might ask rhetorically, " do we want God or Britney Spears teaching our children about sex?" comments: BJE1000@aol.com

Hi.

I'll be honest: to me you sound like a jackass. That being said, I'm willing to hear your side of the arguement.

Thus far, I've read only two of your posts (they make me kinda mad, but, again, I'm willing to hear your side.) I've read your stance on abortion and I've read your thoughts around the bullet we dodged in 1800. Back then, the greatest threat to liberty was too much government control. What's the greatest threat now? What should be the limit of federal concerns? If you agree with the early leaders of this country, the federal government should do little more than organize the Navy and settle interstate disputes. It would be irrational for the government to create a position relating to a persons sexual and personal practices. Either you want the government to be in charge of your decisions, or you don't. You can't call higher taxes tyrany while calling legislative morality "God's Work." More tyrants have justified their actions in the name of God than in the name of the Repubic.

I'd be interested to hear why I'm wrong here. Maybe it's just something I haven't heard before. Enlighten me.
