HOW TO COMPETE WITH CHINA AND INDIA

The very grave problem is simple to understand: China and Indian have about 3 billion people who, thanks to political stability, newly sophisticated infrastructures, free trade, and modern technology, can now do a huge percentage of all the jobs in American, while continuing to live in China or India, for about 5% of what Americans earn.

The obvious solution to save American business is, firstly, to get rid of the Democrats since they are antibusiness even at a time when international competition threatens American business on an unimagined scale. If the Democrats were gone we could get rid of their unions which are one significant factor in driving jobs overseas. If the unions were gone GM and Ford, for example, would have a chance to survive as the last standing US auto manufactures. But, the Democrats, in their inexplicable, cannibalistic, suicidal ignorance will defend the communistic mythology of unions even as union jobs have been vanishing overseas by the millions. It is like a general forcing his troops to don new uniforms as the are being slaughtered in battle. They would rather live out their short lives in false dignity, causing their comrades to fall in battle, rather than admit to their blind dumb soviet ignorance.

If the saintly Republicans had their way, most notable George Bush and Bill Thomas of the Ways and Means Committee, the pensions and health care that are now often managed by business would be privatized so American business would be free to concentrate on international competition rather than on being social service agencies to working and retired union free loaders. According to BusinessWeek , " because of union agreements, GM can't close plants or lay off workers without paying a stiff penalty, no matter how far its sales fall. It must run plants at 80% capacity, minium, whether they make money or not. Even if it halts its assembly lines, GM must pay laid off workers and foot the bill for their extrordinarily generous health-care and pension costs. These costs are fixed, at leaast until the next round of contract talks in two years". In point of fact, GM makes no money and probably has no future because of insane union contracts that burden them 1000% more than Toyota and Honda are burdened by their labor contracts. With free market contracts GM and Ford would actually be as profitable as Toyota. It is an absolute abomination to see our premier corporations being eaten alive by Democrats and their unions, and the cancerous mentality they have spread around many of our biggest and best corporations. A union worker, a dumb Democrat in the very worst sense of the word, was actually quoted as saying, "those wages wern't given to us, we fought for them at the bargining table."

Interestingly, both business and labor would be better off without the Democrats. As the situation now stands union jobs, with their pensions and healthcare, disappear overseas by the millions to be replaced by far worse jobs at, for example, 7-11 and Wal Mart, which the Democrats can't easily organize and destroy. Real jobs at free market wages in a Democrat free auto industry would undoubtedly pay more than the new service sector jobs. Plus, when Democratic unions kill companies they kill much of the pension and health care plans too. Some are transferred to the gov't, as we are seeing now with the United Airlines bankruptcy, but most will still lose about 50% of their benefits. Privitized defined contribution plans , such as 401Ks, simply stay with the individual regardless of company earnings or bankruptcy.

The Republican solution, which Bill Thomas apparently supports, is to privatize Social Security, pensions, and healthcare. This gets the money out of the hands of gov't, where it is stupidly wasted and or wastefully regulated , and, just as importantly, out of the hands of corporations so when the Democrats, or competition, drive them near or into bankruptcy the retirement and health care money doesn't shrink or disappear along with the jobs.

Most importantly, privitization would relieve business of the huge burden of managing and financing costly and unpredictable Democratic social programs that dramatically threaten jobs and companies as they struggle to compete with the revolutionary new competition from China and India.

You're nothing but a racist. Somebody should remind you that the Republicans voted for most of what you rail against and have been in complete control for the past 5 years.

So, you blame Democrats? How insipid and blind can one get.

Wow - I don't believe it. An entire rant supposedly on competing with China and India - and not a single mention of exchange rates. Are you really that ignorant?

I hope India can work on improving the health care system as many do lack coverage. Health insurance is a major aspect to many lives and I hope we can work to improve the situation.

I don't understand how the unions belong to the democrats. Please explain.

*******America and capitalism is about freedom or voluntary relationships between buyers and sellers of goods, services, and labor. The Democrats or socialists are about gov't control of these relationships. Unions use Democrats and Democratic laws to force business to recognize and bargain with unions. Hence, unions get higher than competitive wages and everyone must then pay higher prices for union made goods which is of course blatantly unfair. There is a net economic loss because everyone pays higher prices, and jobs are driven to free industries here or, more often, abroad. In the end it is a disgusting scam perpetrated by dumb Democrats who don't know economics and sleazy Democrats who get union votes. The solution is to rescind the Democratic laws that made this legal.

I didn't even bother reading the whole thing... you are clueless.

Is is the WTO and the US Department of Commerce and US Trade Representatives who have betrayed US Citizens & American Workers. It is they who are not playing according to the rules... the WTO Subsidy Rules.

Free Trade Zones created in India have resulted in 5 and 10 year Tax Holidays. These foregone tax revenues are a form of subsidy as defined by the WTO Subsidies Rules.
So, India has a Corporate Tax Rate of 0.00 % for multi-national corporations who locate inside their free trade zones and produce products for export.

This subsidy is actionable... a violation could be and should be raised by US Trade Representatives... but they don't do it because in this case, when breaking the rules benefits US Corporations, then it is o-kay.

If Congressmen and Senators want to retain their jobs, they will have to take action against these subsidies in order to level the playing field and get re-elected.
