Two Quick Lessons From The Republican Convention
1) Prior to the convention all the pundits and pollsters were assuring us that there were no undecided voters this election cycle. Most pundits and pollsters wanted us to believe that the hatred for Bush was so high that most of the undecided had swung to Kerry and the remaining undecided would do so soon. It turned that after the Republican Convention there was a huge 11% swing of undecided voters toward the Republicans due to the very slick Republican Convention/TV show. The lesson is: politics is confusing to many voters and there will always be voters susceptible to rational and or slick last minute persuasion techniques. The solution is to limit the number of people who vote just as we limit the number of people who do brain surgery or to live with it on the theory that broad participation is somehow a good thing.
2) The second lesson is that the media is indeed very biased as many knew all along. All that really happened during the convention was that the Republicans finally got control of the airwaves from the Democrats, and a huge number of voters liked what they heard.
